Ok, so we already had the discussion over what is the difference between BBQ and Barbecue. I now can say that I have had barbecue twice now and it is good. However there is nothing fresh about it. It is greasy, fatty and just yuck! Don't get me wrong I enjoy junk food sometimes. Actually I really enjoy having junk but when it is the entire meal I can't do that. When we ( in Cali) BBQ it is usually steak or chicken and then there is at least a fresh fruit salad and maybe even a fresh garden salad. Sometimes we even grill veggies and have all three at the same time. Both times I have had barbecue there has not been any veggies at all. I know they serve veggies soaked in butter or fried in grease but that is not exactly what I am looking for. Anyways that is my rant on BBQ vs Barbecue. I am going to stick to my fresno meal, my favorite! If you know what that is tell me...
Ok so my friend brandi on her blog googled "brandi is" and then posted the results. I decided to google mine and this is what I got. I thought mine was funny so here it is...
Heather is...
-Heather is a popular ornamental plant in gardens and for landscaping.
-Heather is actually quite tall and brainy. (how did they know?)
-Heather is powered by WordPress ( Or typepad)
-Heather is also a spokes model for many fortune 500 companies.
***My favorite! -Heather is a secret pole dancer! (how did they know?)
-Heather is one of the smartest and hardest working people (again how did they know?)
-Heather is the one with the muscles.
-Heather is missing her trashman's face
-Heather is Most Despised.
-Heather is troubled.
-Heather is Busy. (true that)
-Heather is such a stupid whore. (Nice)
-Another favorite heather is the one with implants and looking like an old hag.
-Heather is proud to say that Jesus became her biggest role model as a young adult . (true)
And finally Heather is busy getting her household situated.
That was fun you need to try. What is your favorite one with your name. Google " your name is". Tell. H
There is just something about the bond of family! It was so great to see my cousin and her family. There is just something about looking at someone and seeing features and mannerisms that remind you of home. My cousin lives in Savannah which is about 4 hours from here. They are here for the weekend and we went to dinner and then to the golden arches to let the kids get some energy out.
We started the weekend off with Fun at the Farm.
It was an event for the staff of North Point Ministries. It was fun!
We fed the horses.
Or not.

The girls loved the pony's.

It made us miss Nana and Papa's.
Look at that family!
Look at Sohaila's face. The fire was so HOT!
Then today we went to the birthday party of our new friend Abbie.
It was a Perter Pan Party. They painted treasure chests!
And walked the plank while on the treasure hunt. It was very cute.
And now we are off to meet our cousins. In ATL. More weekend fun to come. H
So my friend Kelly showed me some love. Check out her blog and see her surprise! I asked her to take some pictures for me of my home town, Fresneck. She did a fabulous job and am very excited to show my California Wall once I actually get a house. Go check out her work!
So it has been a rough week. PMS did not help the fact that I now live across the country from all of my friends and family, so Carlos knows how to make me happy. Its called immigrants! There is just something about being around people who do not speak English that makes me feel at home. We went to a Korean market and I was beaming!
Kamsahamnida Carlos!
I will have to say that it went well. I was pretty nervous to have Seanna's b-day here so soon after we moved. It turned out so nice. It just so happened that Uncle Eddie and Aunt Kate were in town from San Diego and Tasha was here from Sandals!
Chris and Martha who we know from Sandals but now live here were able to come too. Then we had our friends that we live with plus Eric and Angela of coarse. Then we had another girlfriend who is our first "Georgia" friend that we made that is not related to church. It was a great group of people and so many of them are from home!
If for some reason you come to my blog but not my mans check this out.
We started the day with our new friends at where else, Chik Fil A.
really can't have a b-day without Chik Fil A.
Around 10:30 East Coast time the phone began to ring, and ring, and ring.
California was waking up!
Then we went and got our hair cut! Seanna's first time at the salon.
There is a reason why Seanna's hair is frizzy. That is a story for tomorrow.
We went and got our makeup done.
And our nails done.
Followed by Starbucks.
And last a birthday song.
Thanks for everyone who called her. I feel like the phone rang off the hook. It feels great to have people love your kids. Thanks H
One of the things that I hated about So Cal is that there were no trees. I could live in the mountains, I love green, I wanted a yard of trees... UNTIL NOW! I hate trees I want them all cut down. I can't see anything. I feel trapped on the road by trees. I feel lost with in trees. I feel closed in by trees. TREES ARE OVER-RATED! So I am pretty home sick right now and what causes it most is the land. I want the hills off of fresno
I miss driving through the grapevine!
I miss seeing the sky when there are trees around.
I miss cali. H
Ok so I am not a sports person. Well I am not the typical sports person, I never played soccer, softball or swimming as a kid instead my dad put me on the side of a mountain and said climb, another thing we did was own a boat so by 10 I was skiing. Its just the thing we did after school, and every weekend. So when my friend called and said that she was out on the lake we were there in a flash.
My friend Rachel and her brother Luke were out on their boat.
So we went out played and then it was my turn, I put my ski on, complained about the cold water but then I got in and was ready to go.
I get behind the boat and they pull me. But I don't make it up. I get pissed, my hair got a little wet, I was embarrassed. So they swing around we get all set up, thumbs up means go and again, I fail. Ok so sometimes if its the first ski of the season and my arms aren't in shape it may take me a time, but for sure by the second time around i get up. So then Luke swings around again and asks, "do you want to get up on two ski's and kick one off."AHHH I was mortified. I don't even remember the last time I used two skies, maybe when I was 8. 21 years ago. Then I realized that the ski was super short, i think I was on a junior ski so i adjusted my weight to keep the nose out and i got up. Finally. There was no one on the lake so it was glass and i had a great time.
When i got back in the boat Luke kept saying that people always come over and say they can ski but he has not seen someone solemn like that in a very long time. So that compliment took off his marks for the "do you want two skis." remark. We had fun here are some pictures. This really fills me! I had a wonderful weekend!
Oh there is just nothing like being around people who know you and know the culture you come from. I was able to let my guard down and be me completely. What a great night!
So we laughed at dinner because earlier this year we were at their house for dinner and they asked this question, "so what are you guys doing this summer? Do you have any plans?" I then go into a 15 minute rant about my family reunion, our camping trips, blah, blah, blah. Then we turned the question on them and their response made me feel so lame. " We are moving to Africa to be Missionaries" Yeah they squashed my lame attempt to share what my summer was going to entail. Anyways now they are on their way overseas and we are in Atlanta. I guess my summer ended a little more dramatic then we had planned. It was so good to see them!
So in So-Cal we don't get rain. We get some water on the ground but it usually comes in a shower and at best a light rain. If you have never lived anywhere else you grow up thinking that showers means rain. Well I grew up in Fresno where it does rain and was so excited to see our first GA rain. It actually was only for 10 minutes but it was hard and a lot. We also got our first thunderstorm. God was Gracious with his hand and did not give us the house shaking kind of thunder. It was mild but got the girls used to the sound. Hurray I love weather!
Ok so Jake is not ours but it is Billy and Joy's and we have overcome big steps in the whittaker house! Do you see how close is. You have to know that she freaks with dogs but not anymore. You know me and my opinions of animals but Jake is special because he reminds me of Nelson my childhood dog. Maybe someday once all of my kids are potty trained we can talk about it. Unitl then we have Jake.
Another one down.
She was true to herself today.
No the camera did not take the picture just as she was blinking, she was just being my Seanna.
I love how big the backpack is!

One of her teachers.
Me staying with her for a little. It actually worked and she did not make as big of a fuss that I anticipated!
Huh? Aren't they the same thing? Well that's at least what I asked. Scott (Carlos' oldest friend, they new each other in preschool) and Joy (we did not get any pictures of her) asked us over for dinner, but then they asked what we wanted. Barbecue or hamburgers? Anyways I chose hamburgers to be safe!
Here are some pictures of the night.
Chattahoochee thats right folks, where it get hotter than a hoochie coochie. We live two minutes from that great piece of music.
We took a great walk along the river. It was so great to be out doors. I can't wait to go running here!
As we were walking all of a sudden we heard some sqwakin that kept getting louder and louder and then we see at least 3oo geese flying over us and up the river it was a National Geographic moment. So cool! I know this is when pictures do no justice!
Quote #1
Where: Walking into a Hispanic Grocery Store (which I was so excited about)
Who: Seanna
Quote: " Oh mommy dis my favorite store. I like them with da pinata's"
Explanation: We always shopped in Hispanic Markets in Cali and if you are not familiar they always have pinatas hanging from the ceilings and she was so excited to see something familiar!
Quote #2
Where: Public's ( one of the two chain grocery stores out here)
Who: The check out guy
Quote: Are you the Nanny?
Quote #3
Where: At Costco, at the very end when the lady checks the receipt to what is in the cart.
Explanation: asked her to draw a happy face ( if you are a parent I am sure your kid does this too) So this lady begins to draw a happy face and then she says this...
Quote: " I am even gonna draw your sista a happy face too. Oh wait thats a boy. Honey you need to start growin' some man features cause you look like a little girl. You need to start growin' some man features." And yes the lady was black and gave her attitude voice with it. I kinda laughed and then was in shock that some lady just told my son who was in a collared button up shirt, and a fohawk that he looks like a girl. OH the things I have heard today! H
So Larissa pointed this out to me "btw--what does it say behind So's head in front of the frog poster? I think that's a P, but she's positioned just so that it looks like it could be an F. well, just take a peek". I think it is hilarious. I promise I did not position her there on purpose but its definitely a Great First Day picture!
Thats right I guess I cried all the tears yesterday or maybe it was because was barfing again but either way no tears from me.
isn't she so cute!
This is what she thought of waking up.
Everything was good. We showered were brushing hair and was a lot slower and cranky than usual. So I was the mean mom and was telling her that if she did not stop she could not go and drop of Sohaila at school (which she really wanted to do) . Blah, Blah, Blah. I was not going to listen to her just cause she was tired. Then two seconds later she is bawling because she just puked. Great I am such a kind and compassionate mom.
Then we took So to school. The question this morning was. " Mom why is it dark when its the morning." Yeah we really only see the sun at 9 o'clock in the morning when the Whittaker's usually wake up.
Here backpack is so big on her.
She is a Frog.
Sohaila did cry when I left and the teacher had to carry her for a little but I am sure she will be fine.
The parents made it out with no tears!
I will post the conclusion of the day! H
Tomorrow is the day that you hear about. It will always be a "story" you can tell. It's like your wedding day or the day you give birth. You will always remember when your first baby went to school. BIG KID school. Tomorrow MY baby starts Kindergarten. All day long for 5 days a week. Now for some of you that may seem normal but in Ca most Kindergarten classes are only half days so I am adjusting to this new idea of having So gone all day long. And of coarse the girls were best friends today. Playing hours and hours. My heart breaks for because she is loosing her sis. I know, I know, they will play when she gets home and it has to happen someday, trust me I've heard the lectures from Carlos, but honestly it makes me want to weep. Anyways it will be interesting who cry's more tomorrow. Me or Sohaila. Anyone want to take bets? H
