How can they be so tiny and have bigger spirits than their bodies? Thank you for your joyous, tearful journey and sharing it with us - love being part of the body -
I learned about your blog via BooMama and wanted to de-lurk and thank you for sharing these amazing pictures with us. It's wonderful that so many people are learning about Compassion's ministry through these blogs.
Been reading Carlos' blog for a few months now about 2 times per week & checked your out one day.
I attend Stonemill church in Suwanee and today the Pastor spoke on tithing & over the top giving. I was sitting there thinking of how much money me & my husband spend ever week passing by a Starbucks - I can up to at least $15 per week. THAT'S CLOSE TO $60 A MONTH, in addition to our coffee consumption at home.
After church we went to a S'bucks & dropped $4.95 for coffee & pastry and sat down and I dropped a bomb on my husband & 8 yr old son. S'Bucks is only a once a week treat now - Fri nite or Sunday after church. Everytime we pass and would have stopped at S'bucks we put in a penny in a special bank in the Kitchen. The Penny (.01Cent) represents the $2 we would have spent on a simple coffee drink. We are going to do this for 1 month and see how much we can save.
We then left S'bucks, went home and my son picked out a little 5yr old boy named "Wilfred" from Uganda. I put the sponsorship in my son's name and instead of having it charged to my Credit Card each month we decided to send in a check each month. It will be my son's job to address the envelope and prepare the check, etc. This will keep Wilfred on our minds since we will deal with him every month.
Thank you so much for these eye opening post. We are so abundant in America & this many times causes us to forget about those who having nothing.
that's awesome.
