not sure how we Moms get by on days like this.....but we make it, the kids survive and bedtime is a sweet a beautiful thing @ the end of the craziness...hang in there.
I feel you. I have a friend who is a nanny but her prices are rediculous we're talking like 20 bucks an hour!! I had her scheduled to baby sit wed and fri since I have family down but it's just way too much money. So we brought the baby to the beach yesterday which was a nightmare. I would've loved to have had a nanny.
Nannies can work wonders. It is like having a second pair of hands that not only is a child specialist, but it will give you a break and your child the best educated fun time ever.
I am sorry you were not feeling well and wish that you had a nanny to help.
I would like to take a moment to address a comment above.
Yes, we are expenisve. Some nannies are not, but you get what you pay for. For those that can afford a nanny deem their children to be their most prized posession, but want to pay $10, I say "shamw on you" the $35 an hour I charge should be nothing.
I think a person really cant afford it, that I would understand not going the way of the nanny. But if one can afford it, why not hire the best and oay her what she is worth!
You can have your child in the best hands ever for $35 an hour or you can buy a pair of shoes from payless or a hardcover book. In the grand scheme of things, the mother who says $20 an hour is a lot, might be right! It just depends what you get for that hour. For a 4 hour day, my itinerary on a winter day usually looks like this.
A Theme day of Gingerbread.
1. Bake Ginger bread cookies...learn about measuring, math and have fun getting messy.
2. While oven is baking, wash up and clear activities and then read the gingerbread man story book.
3.Take out the cookies to cool. Do an art project about ginerbread men...puppet or make a gingerbread house out of a shoe box.
5. Decorate cookies...wrap some up for friends
6. Create our own story, make a book about it or a poem.
Worth $35 an hour, I think so!
Feel better!
my sincere and deep sympathies to your condition called motherhood (i am not being sarcastic as i normally am...i am dead serious)

I'm also a nanny, and after reading the comments, I think I need to be charging more! I'll clone myself and come help you out!
