My little secret
Confession: I love to read Fiction Christian Amish books. How cheesy did I just get! Wow, I really look lame on paper! Well the truth sets you free! Anyhow on our way home from Nashville we stopped by a Amish Community in Ethridge Tn. It was so great! We went on a wagon ride. It took us to about 8 Amish Farms where we were able to buy things from them. I got fresh eggs, butter, jelly, candy, plus some fun wood toys and everything was so cheap. The people were all so friendly and I just loved it. I can't wait to go back! H

Visiting Lancaster County is on my list of things to do before I die. That is so awesome.

Ok,I've been following your blog for awhile and this post has made me comment.
I'm Mennonite, my mom grew up Amish and my Grandparents are Amish (a bishop at that). And I live in Lancaster County. So anyway, I'm very familiar with all things Amish.
The Amish have a lot of great things about them.. and some sad things. So if you ever get tired of Beverly Lewis and want to see real deal, come on by!:)

Which Christian Fiction Amish author do you like best? And why does that make you cheesy?

I've probably read all the same books you have, yes, Beverly Lewis is a very good author. :)

I, too, love to read about the Amish. Two years ago we toured the Amish area in Ohio and we enjoyed it so much. Wonderful food. That does NOT make you cheesy.

I have been recommended a few of these books. I guess I should start reading.
We live in a large Amish area. Most are nice, some are not...just like the rest of us.
I'm always surprised when I see a horse & buggy on the side of the road!

It is so funny because I grew up in Lancaster PA, which is like the amish capital, we had a bed and breakfast on a farm, and I thought that people were of their rockers for wanting to come see the amish on vacation. But I had grown up around that.
To me vacation wasn't vacation without a pool or beach.
Now that I am all grown up, I can see why it is so interesting.
...I also live in Florida now, with a pool, and a beach, and I still love it....

I'm Lisa's mom and I still live in Lancaster County, PA with the Amish all around me. I grew up a "plain" Mennonite. But would you believe, I have never read any of the Amish Christian fiction books. I think I would probably really like them, I just can't figure out when to find time in my days to read (anything besides blogs, that is!)

Ha. That's so funny - I have read almost all of Beverly Lewis's books too.
My mom's side of the family lives in Lancaster and that's where we go for our family reunions. It is soooo pretty. They are all Old Order Mennonite - well some of them still are but most of them are not anymore. But there is still that heritage.
It's such a different culture and I've seriously considered what it would be like to live that way but in reality I don't think I'm cut out for it!
