Confessions of a mom...

I am almost to embarrassed to post this, but then you would miss out on this great laugh. So at my expense I give you this confession of a mom. A BAD MOM, at that.

It was a rough week. Late nights, early mornings. Cranky kids and non-stop schedules. Then it happened, I had a morning with nothing on the schedule. Oh, what a glorious thought!
But of coarse nothing happens the way it is suppose to, and at the lovely hour of 4:30 AM Losiah decided that he was going to wake up. That is the middle of the nights peeps. THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! However I was a good mom. I got up, tucked him back in bed and without hesitation got comfy back in mine. Then, as I lay there suddenly my eyes popped open. I was wide awake...Suck!
So I opened my computer, did some blogging, read some as well and before I knew it I realized it was time to get up and start the day.  I got Sohaila dressed and out the door for school, Losiah was up by this point. We had breakfast and at about 9am he was cranky and ready for a nap. I put him down and crawled back in bed because Mama was ready for a nap too.
Right around this time Seanna wakes up and comes in bed with me. She cuddles and I fall asleep.
I am not the most coherent person when I sleep, so as I was "resting" Seanna was playing princesses  happily in her room. I thought we were fine... fast forward to bed time...
Seanna was saying her prayers and it went something like this...
"God I just pray for mommy. I pray she can go to bed early so she can wake up and get me breakfast."
Apparently she came in and asked me to get her breakfast and the great mom that I am, I ignored her. And so with her magnificant faith, she  brought it to God.  I busted up laughing. I tried to hold it in and respect her time with God, but I couldn't do it.
How awful is that. Ha it makes me laugh, but really I sound like one of those moms who are  drunks and  don't wake up to feed her children.
So there you go. Confessions of a mom!

Think of it this way. You're a really great parent for the fact that your daughter looks to God when faced with the limits of humans :-)

You are an awesome mom!!!

To quote the great philosopher 'los - "ain'tnoshameinyogame" - you are obviously a fabulous mother and the Lord used your sense of humor to give you a little poke. We regularly get up at 4:30ish and yes - it is the middle of the night. Bless you for your parenting, humor and ability to sleep! Still chuckling - what wonderful kids!

true, if that is the worst thing you've done as a mother that day, you're doing pretty darn well.

That's hilarious! ...and not so bad... We all have crazy things like that.

Hilarious! Kids say the funnest things sometimes...that seanna, what a cutie

I am so glad to hear someone else admit their exhaustions! I have those days with my 4 and 2 year olds. It is also great to hear she knew to take it to God because he can "fix it" (which says a lot of your mothering). There is nothing more faithful than a child's prayer. I love reading your blogs - you are so real and I have to say the reading is better than a parent magazine! Keep blogging sister!

I fell back asleep this morning WHILE ALL THREE KIDS played on the bed next to and around me.

Sometimes, mothers sleep the sleep of the exhausted.

But I love that your daughter is taking her needs to the Lord.

Well my dear, if that is the worst of your confessions, you are doing well...mighty well indeed! Cute story though, thanks for sharing!

Love it...those middle children just go with the flow so well.

please pray for this little boy

Shoo. I've done that before. And more than once. And I only have ONE child.

Hey...at least she only told God... I'm prego right now and in the throes of severe morning sickness. My 6 year old "confessed" to her kindergarten teacher last week. "I'm kind of sad because my mom isn't very much fun any more." The guilt!!!!!

Thank you for making me laugh!

no worries girl :) we've all been there...and its a GREAT new day when the kiddos can handle cereal all by themselves! It just makes Mommy's pancake breakfast that much cooler. my "bad" mornings are almost always from late night blogging...theres my confession - gotta find a better time....but is there?

ROFLOL Been there, done that! I would say I'd pray for you... but Seanna took care of that one already! hahaha

18 years ago, my newborn daughter loved to sleep in the swing. And I loved to SLEEP. So after her morning bottle, I would put her in her swing, load up the batteries, and go BACK TO MY BED! One morning, I heard a 'noise' while snoozing in my bed. I ran to the living room, where I had left her swinging away an hour earlier. I saw the swing was empty! She had wiggled out of it, the 'arm' hadn't latched good! She was just lying on the floor, cooing to herself!! NOW I REALLY FELT LIKE THE HORRIBLE MOTHER OF THE YEAR!!! She survived it, and is my toughest and easiest of the 3!!!

Too cute!! And your kids are BEAUTIFUL!!!

I was making a comment earlier and forgot all about MY BAD MOMMA experience just this morning.....yep. My husband left this morning for the DRIVE conf and I was still asleep...my middle son came in my bed, cuddled and then left because I never opened my eyes...I fell back asleep and woke up to my oldest son crying at my bed saying that his brothers are arguing and he was trying SO hard to let me sleep some more. I felt like a complete looser, got up and it was 9am. Poor kid, he gave them all breakfast too. Now thats a lazy, late night bloggin Mommy.

You're going to have a hard time selling the bad mommy thing if anyone scrolls down to the park pics, or family night, the "slumber party", etc......

I think we've all had those mornings.. Too funny.

that IS funny. thanks for sharing. you're a great mom tho. you're my inspiration, remember. i've fallen asleep on the couch while izzy was playing. how's THAT for bad mom?

on a good note, at least your daughter is exercising her faith. =0)

I think my oldest learned to make his own cereal at age 3 or 4. He subsequently took on the job of cereal maker for each of his three younger siblings. I still feel like a looser mom when I sleep past 8 - even if my kids have been fed. We all have days like this! I only wish I had your energy to create such amazing family nights.
