Two Grandma's, two worlds apart

So Nani, my mothers mom, is... well if you read the post bellow you can see she is concerned about things of high importance. Now my Nannan, who is my real dads mom, is... shall we say polar opposite than Nani. Look how cute she was with a little package she sent me.
It started off with a phone call letting me know that there was something VERY SHARP in the box that she was sending.
Then when I opened it I found this...

So sweet and very protective of her!
I continued to unwrap to find this...

It was another layer with a EXTREME caution note on it!
Then finally I hit the  final product which was a great knife,
but guess what...
it has it's own blade cover!

Needless to say no fingers were cut. I think it was so cute!
And so protective! Now Nani on the other hand, I am
not sure she would have been so cautious. Heck she
got a knife on the plane on the way out here. I love my
grandma's! H

I think in Korean culture, if you give someone a knife or knives as a gift, it means you wish them ill. Or worse.
(My Auntie gave me a set, but first made me empty out my change purse and give it to her, so it wasn't really a gift.)

I LOVE your blog. It totally, completely makes me smile. Your Nanni and your Nannon are very hilarious! I laughed my head off about the knife and the tanning supplies. That is classic Grandma : ). God bless you and your beautiful family! Your children are precious to the max.

Your Grandmas are fabulous!! Keep me laughing! And I love anyhting "Pampered Chef".

Recently found your blog. LOVE it!! I'm thinking Nannon is my mom's long lost sister :) too funny~Monica~

My brother gave me a set of knives for a wedding gift as an inside joke in reference to the fact that he once chased me with a kitchen knife when we were kids. I'm divorced now but I'll never forget that wedding gift!

is that a pampered chef paring knife? those are my favorite! i have really expensive knives too, but i never use them because i LOVE those cute little paring knives! they're extremely sharp and i use them for literally everything! yeay :)

That's so funny...and kind of bad...my Grandma also got a knife on a plane going to New York a few years ago...coming and going! No one suspects a thing from my sweet-looking, little Grandma!

Weird! You're the only other person that I've come across to call a grandparent "Nani". My MIL couldn't come to grips with the idea of us making her a grandma, so she made our kids call her "Nane".
