You ask, I'll answer set 4

*What did you do (career) before you had kids?? College degree?
Posted by: Susanne  | May 13, 2008 at 05:42 AM
I got my BA in Psychology from California Baptist University. It was the fastest degree I could get with the credits I transferred in with.  As far as a career before kids well, I actually had Sohaila on a Sunday and the following Saturday I graduated. So I guess you can say I got my BA to stay home. No career.

*Did you go to college? What would you be doing right now if you weren't a stay at home mom?

If I did not have kids or a husband I would be living on a mountain teaching snowboarding in the winter and doing some mountaineering job during the summer. If I was married without kids I would be working in the culinary arts somewhere. Probably not in a restaurant, been there and done that and hated it. Well unless the restaurant was mine. ☺

*where have you worked (outside of home)...specifically the Mission Inn, and what did you do there?

My first job was at Longs Drug Store. ( I sure miss Longs, it reminds me of home)
Then I worked up at a Sierra Summit Ski Resort. (Thats where I met Carlos but thats another post)
I worked at a few random retail shops, the bank, and finally at the Mission Inn. I cooked in the kitchen. After college I was going to go to culinary school and the one thing Carlos asked me to do is talk to a Chef and see if I needed to go to school to make it in the industry. So I went to the best restaurant in town and talked to the Chef. His name was Victor and he told me not to go to school and to get into the field before I decided to pay that money for school. So I asked him for a job and continued to ask until he gave me one. I loved the pace and the art of it but he turned out to be the meanest man I have ever personally met. I then got pregnant and had back issues and had to quit. Thank God!
After Sohaila I taught different cooking classes at our local adult community education in Riverside. Besides that no other jobs here.  And I love it. I have absolutely no desire to be in the working world. It actually sounds like torture to me. I love being home.

*If you had a day completely to yourself, what would you do with it?
Posted by: Anna | May 13, 2008 at 06:41 AM
Well first I would find someone to spend it with. ☺ Why waste a lovely day all by myself.
Once I found someone, I would wake up before the sun rose, drink a cup of coffee, put on my tennis shoes and start up some mountain. Watch the sun rise, expand my lungs till I feel like they are going to pop, burn my leg muscles until I am complaining, create some blisters on my feet and reach some mountain peak and praise God for his creation. Oh and you can’t forget to eat snickers all day long! I would make it down the mountain in time for a fabulous dinner and drinks and if we are having a dream day… end it with a massage! Now that is my kind of day. Oh I need to plan one right now!

*What hair products do you use?
Whatever is on sale… Seriously .99cent kind of stuff. Oh, I do buy Big and Sexy hair spray. I have frizzy hair and I need kind that will dry immediately or else my hair frizzes up. Not pretty.
*What skin care products do you use?
None, I am bad! I don’t even wash my face or use cream… Terrible. Shh don’t tell my grandma she will die!
*What scent do you wear daily?
Nothing, I am sounding pretty boring
*What scent if for "special occasions"?
I do have a spray from that lotion store, I think it is brown sugar something, maybe plum?
I also wear Pink Sugar from Sephora. That would be my special occasion fragrance.

My turn...
If you had a day to yourself what would you do?

Comments

Bobbi asks me that same dang question a lot, and I never have an answer. There are so many possibilities that it overwhelms me and I can't think of what things I would want to do over what other things.

87 days till the kids go back to school...

Hmmm... A dream day..
A day at home with no chores...
Yup... sounds wonderful.

I don't have kids yet, and even still this is a rarity!

However, I would definitely:
1) get a massage
2) go visit my hub at his new job and take him out to lunch
3) go jeans shopping. Because that is the one thing in life that I cannot, cannot, absolutely cannot do with someone else tagging along. Way too stressful.

But bathing suit shopping is right up there, also. Ughghg.

I would spend my day curled up in a comfy chair at my local bookstore with books & magazines, a nice cup of coffee and a giant cookie. It relaxes me just thinking about it.

take pictures

Sleep in. Go for a run. Buy a lunch I can't afford. Go see a movie. Or three. Eat ice cream. Stay up late.

-------------OR---------------

Sleep in. Go for a run. Lay on the beach. Read a good book. Play in the surf. Take a nap in the sunshine. Eat seafood. Take a bath. Watch the sunset in my PJs. Dream.

Thanks for answering my question! :) Lately I have been having quite a few days to myself b/c I was in between school and working. I read, organize, and plan right now... kind of boring.

I don't really want to be in the working world either so I appreciated hearing that from you! Oh well...

I LOVE Pink Sugar. I keep a little bottle of it in my purse. I don't get to wear fragrances that much since my daughter is a bit sensitive to them. But that and Kenzo Amour are my two favorites.

Trapeze lessons!

first i'd go to starbucks and sit at a single table, facing the wall, listening to my iPod and reading/journaling. then i'd get a zaxby's salad to go, grab one of my many un-read books, open all the windows, and sit on the couch with the food network on in the background while reading and leisurely eating my salad. :) wow. that makes me sound like a recluse, doesn't it?

and i think it's awesome that you get to stay home. i stayed home this year and it was the best year of my life! i loved it. maybe again one day... we shall see.

Hmm...
If I had a day all to myself, I would spread all my journaling and scrapbooking stuff all over the floor, and cut/paint/collage/write allll day long. And I would drink some Earl Grey tea, eat lots of ice cream, and read some good books. Maybe go see an Atlanta Braves game (dream come true!)

If I had a day to myself I would find a used book store, coffee, and read all day. Hopefully find some more books to add to our expanding library that is now in boxes in our garage since we just moved into a smaller house.

Though some people will hate you for your hair/skin product confession (or lack there of!) I personally love you for that! :)

99 cents for me all the way too

Could I have a week instead??? Please??? I would spend the night before at my grandmother's beach cottage on the ocean; wake up just before sunrise and enjoy a cup of coffee in my pjs on the deck. I'd stay there until the sun and coffee made me too hot to stand it any longer.

Then I'd meet my mom and my sister in law for a Cracker Barrell breakfast. After that, its a toss up -- spend the day at the beach; ride my horse; garden; shop; watch movies. Either way, after an oyster bar dinner with friends, I'd go back to the cottage and read under a floor lamp with the windows open until I fell asleep...

Brown Sugar and Fig-I get it from that Lotion store too. I usually switch to something lighter in the summer though. Not that it is a daily wearing though. Getting dressed with some make=up is a big deal when you have two and are pregnant with the third, spray comes into my thoughts after I am pulling out of the driveway and my thought is "at least i have deoderant!"

I think I'd like to head out early on a bike ride with Sam. Kill about 35 miles (and eat a snickers half way through the ride). Then, a nice refreshing swim. Next, a picnic as a family, a nap in the sun. Hop a jet before dinner and go wherever we felt like it...I'm feeling Napa Valley today. Meet up with friends at dinner...talk about old times...and times to come. Watch the sunset while my baby fell asleep in my arms. Get a facial, sit in a steam room and stay the night at a Four Seasons. Oh man, I need to make that happen!!!

I worked at Longs too. In Fresno for like 2 years, and one in LA when I went down there for school. Did you know that? I didn't know you worked there. That is weird. It was a fun job. I don't miss those green aprons though. :)

Perfect Day...shopping with my daughters, then some lying around by the pool reading a romantic novel watching my grandchildren frolick, then massage, maybe dinner (french food is best with some nice wine) and a movie with my hubby, then to bed under soft and cuddly sheets with a cool breeze floating in the window and a full moon and lots of stars.

hmmmmm... what was the question ;*)

ask my husband to take the day off with me, so we could spend it together. you fill in the rest....:)
(oh yeah)

I feel the same way you do about getting a job. It actually makes me kind of sad. Everytime I gripe about being broke, I think about having to go to a job everyday. UGH. I also graduated seven months pregnant so I didn't get a chance to start a careet. I'm cool with that, though.

If I had a day to myself? Probably wake up super early and go to any downtown area where they have lots of art galleries and little cafes. Then I would have some yummy hot bagels, some green tea and then just walk around and enjoy everyone else's creativity.

OH and shame on you girl. About the lack of facial regimen, I mean. I am religious about cleansing, toning, moisturizing. I'm hoping that when I'm old this will pay off. Since the body is shot, I've gotta hold on for the face. LOL

YOU ARE SOOOOOOO BUSTED YOU WILL HAVE SOME CREAM SOON....................

I'm with you, I'd grab someone to spend the day with ~ probably someone without a bunch of testosterone flowing through their body, and also someone who is not a teenager, Lord knows I'm around enough of them! With that said I'd wake with a cup of coffee, hit the beach to see the sun rise, then hike at my favorite preserve here in FLA, cool off in someones pool, then end my day with a fabulous dinner (not made by me) and a massage.

Perhaps I'd eat snickers, as well as butterfingers and tiramisu and maybe some string cheese ~ nothign that takes much prep or clean-up.
Thanks for asking!
