Pine Trees, Pine Trees, GO AWAY!
Pine trees, pine trees, go away, our garden needs the sun to stay!
One thing about gardening here in Georgia is having to plan around these dumb trees. In our back yard we have a limited space where the sun actually shines, the trees block the sun form my little garden most of the day. We shall see how things turn out. I thought I would give it a try since the tastes of fresh tomatoes are one of my all time favorite things! What can't you live without eating in the summer?
watermelon!

That crate is super rad. What's the story behind it? A family member business? Lucky dumpster diving find?

I tried growing tomato plants last year but forgot to account for all the trees. So I ended up with lots of dead plants. I imagine things grow easier in California.
My summer foods? Strawberries, tomatoes, watermelon, fresh herbs and ICE CREAM!

fresh boiled green (not red spanish) peanuts. you tried those yet? they taste kind of like....garbanzo beans/chickpeas. zipper peas, peaches, and vidalia onions from south georgia are amazing, too...but zipper peas are hard to find...sometimes you can find them at those little vegetable stands by the side of the road.
they look like this: http://www.southwesternproduce.com/images/21.JPG but they do not taste like lima beans.

My favorite summer meals is BLT sandwiches with fresh corn on the cob. That was always our favorite summer meal when I was a kid, so when I travel home each summer my mom always repeats it. I stuff myself with BLT and corn! My mouth is watering thinking about it!

Fresh grape tomatoes with basil and garlic over goat cheese and a splash of balsamic. I eat that all the time in the summer with Stacy's Pita Chips.
Oh, and mangoes and peaches. And I just polished off $5 of raspberries all by myself. I love summer.

Fresh, ripe tomatoes...yum! And I would kill for some of your trees....out here in the desert, full-grown trees are few and far between.

Pears. My dad was an avid gardener. Everymorning, Dad would bring me, my mom, and my grandmother a pear. Yummy!
I liked it so much, I would steal a pear every afternoon.
One evening, my sister came home from work. We decided to steal pears together. Only, she went to a different tree than I did.
Dad had 2 pear trees!! We didn't feel guilty until he said he was going to have to buy a trap for the animals that were eating his pears off his trees. In hindsight, I think he meant us.
