Family Night #12- 60's Night
Oh, how I wish I lived in the sixties! I can sing me some classic rock! It just puts me in that happy place! This night was inspired by a gift Sohaila got for her birthday...
Any guesses?
We did tie-dye shirts! I am telling you, those birthday gifts really spark my creative juices!
Our activity for the night was painting our own signs with the classic 60's phrases on them.
Sohaila: Flower Power, Seanna: Groovy, Losiah: Peace and us well...
I made meatloaf for the first and last time. I just do not like a big loaf of meat. It's just nasty! But in honor of the night I made it with mash potatoes and those nasty mixed veggies.
Sohaila about died when she saw what she had to eat.
We ate our homemade TV dinner in front of the box watching the Brady Bunch and finishing it off with some "Special Brownies" with out the "special". :) Got to add a little adult humor here and there!

Someone should really make you guys into a reality TV show. The ratings would be awesome. I would buy stock in that

That is really great! I make really good meat loaf, I use half ground turkey, half ground sirloin and some stewed tomatoes. What you served your kids is actually one of my kids favorite meals! I'm 60's I guess.

You blow me away with all the effort you put into your family nights! I'm not sure I have the energy... Did you have to shop for your sixties garb or did you already have it? You're an amazing Mom Heather!!!

I've eaten special brownies before...they were tasty! That was a looooooong time ago, though.
Love your ideas! You should have tried a tuna casserole. Blech.

Oh. My. Word.
Can we get a closeup shot of Losiah with the wig? And why do you have costumes at the ready for this?
Posted by: Chelsea | July 04, 2008 at 05:55 PM
Where do you get all these costumes? I had a plan this week for family night but we had some unwelcomed tiny house guests that consumed our week. :( But we'll be starting ours next week!

Ok, so we did not have a family night here at home, but we did turn a normal baseball game into a little more "family" style fun. We added the marta train ride, and ended up having a great night out on the town as a family.

Kristy... I do have a box well ok two of costumes! I just will pick something up at a garage sale if I see it. Now with family nights they sure have come in handy! H

I'm getting caught up on your life. LOVE the looks! Losiah in that wig is priceless.
BTW, I made my first meatloaf yesterday!! No 60's theme. I just grew up eating West Indian food so meatloaf is a special treat for me.

i can give you a good meatloaf recipe that uses either ground turkey or super lean beef if you'd like...it doesn't taste so meaty...
