Sunday... Blessed Sunday

I am a part of a group of women that single handily has to get our families put together before church.  This means everyone showered, dressed and fed. Usually there are tons of tears and many frustrated memories.  Sundays are the most stressful morning of the week, so why not add a little extra drama!
We only have one car so on Sundays everyone gets loaded up at 6am to drive Carlos to church. On the way home I was driving down our street and see a duck sitting in the middle of the road. I completely stopped and he did not move. I realized he was injured and decided to help the little guy. I mean why not. I have nothing to do, right?

The problem was, well there were multiple problems. I quickly learned that 3 kids 6 and under are no help when it comes to wild animals. I also learned that they do not teach you how to drive with a duck in your hand when you take drivers training. Luckily we were not far from home. Our little duck had a hurt leg and was a very good sport. He just sat in this towel with the best manners. IMG_9474
I called a kazillion numbers before I finally found someone to help our little friend. I guess animals don't get hurt or found on Sundays, because everyone was closed.  I finally got everyone showered, dressed and fed and we were off to take Ducky to the doctor.  Oh, but my drama does not end there. You see my #2, my bean, my Seanna  gets car sick and sure enough I hear in her sweet little voice. " Mommy my throat hurts." AKA I am about to puke!  Are you kidding me. Luckily we are prepared and I grabed a bag.

All this drama before 9 am! Now that is a Sunday Morning! H

Alright, this is like a good book with the last two pages ripped out!
What happened to the duck? :-)

Man...I hope your wore your Wonder Woman Underoos....nothing short of a super hero moment there! =) Rachelle

alright that morning routine sounds way to familiar (i mean without the duck)...and the Army says they do more before 9am...ha i laugh at them!

Wow, and you still look so nice! I only have one kid to get ready in the mornings, and I usually look like I'm out of makeup and haven't showered...

Aw the little one gets sick in the car that must be tough you travel a lot?!? I hope it all worked out with out too much hastle.

You are SUPER MOM!!!

That was so good of you all to help the duck. I love animals, and there's no way I could leave an injured one sitting in the middle of the road either...all that and with a puking child. You're a saint!

I can so relate! Not really about the duck, but all the drama on Sunday mornings, with hubs already at church! I hope you got a nap, yesterday!

LOL yeah our Sunday mornings are always stressfull, too! Thank God we've never had a duck involved! LOL

Aww, so sweet! Good job, Mama.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: You are my hero. And I'm sure that won't be the last time I say it.

i am the same...right in the middle of moving a couple of weeks ago, we're on the way to drop a load of our stuff off at the new house and what do i see on the sidewalk in the 105* weather? two baby birds (with their other 2 siblings next to them dead...sorry, not trying to be so graphic). so, off to pet's mart we go with our new little friends in a box...i'm so glad they took them!
anyways...good for you for saving that little duck and at least you looked HOT doing it! :)

Brilliant title.

And that last picture is priceless. The perfect, "Yes, I'm a hot momma scrounging children and ducks on my way to church, but you have NO IDEA!" look.

Ha! I have an always car sick one too. Fun! Although, I shouldn't complain...she got it from me.

I have to agree - you did all that and you look amazing! I have three kids to get ready on Sunday morning and get out the door by 7:30 am (we usually do breakfast at church in the youth room) and I'm usually putting on my makeup at church - so I don't look as good as you did AND you took care of a duck! Amazing!

Oh! I am so glad you took him under your care! So many would just ride on by... Is he okay now?

Birds, turtles, crickets, and now ducks! I am learning much about you guys. 1) Every creature LOVES you (except the spiders)...H, you are like Mary Poppins only much cooler. 2) You are the queen of multitasking even when drama strikes!

What is getting ready for church going to be like when the girls are teens???????????????????????? LOL.

We've been a one car family for 12 years...I am right there w/ya on the shuttle thing :)

humph. I understand all too well!

hope it all worked out the duck and you getting to church! didn't now Seanna got car sick. does she also get air sick,/sea sick?

Ahhhh, someone else who understands the 1 vehicle and 2(+) kid Sunday morning experience. At his other job, he would come back for us between services - IF he had time!

I did the save a bird thing after church 1 Sunday. It was hot, I had 3 kids and 3 adults in a car with a broken a/c, in traffic for 90 minutes. We are less than 1 minute from home when the sister-in-law screams for me to stop. I thought I hit a person. She runs out of the car and the next thing I know, we are driving 45 minutes to the only animal hospital open.

It was molting eagle that was far from its pack and had many other issues going on. If we didn't let them put the bird down, we would have had to pay big $$. Sister-in-law was wanting to save the bird. The hospital people told us about an animal rescue.

Another 60 minutes and we are on the doorstep of a woman who has 30+ dogs, 20+ cats, 40+ birds, a few reptiles. Now, these are not normal animals. Every dog and every cat was missing a leg - or two - and an eye or an ear - or two, or both. Yeah, it was like that.

The woman's father had had cancer and died. She didn't take care of him because she doesn't do people well. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I'm told the eagle was freed to the wild about 2 months later.

What happened to the duck?

i know exactly the kinda morning you're describing. i always say my goal is to get to get in and out of church still looking sain! :)

I will never, EVER complain about my Sunday mornings again.
You just put me to shame. =D

That was truly hilarious (although, probably not at the time!)

I so feel your pain of rushed Sunday mornings (although mine have never involved a duck!) But my husband just got a new job where they have Saturday evening church service. I was doing the happy dance yesterday morning in my pj's!!! So nice.

Wow! You are a better woman than me. I don't know if I would have stopped to pick up a duck.

And the thing about having to get everyone ready ... I feel ya'. I can barely get my own hair done, much less two other little girls'. My straightener is plum worn out.

What cracks me up the most is how you ALWAYS have your camera ready for these momets!

That is awesome LOL!

I usually read your blog from work and I just want to thank you for giving me a good chuckle most days. Today I laughed out loud about you driving with the duck in your lap. Thanks Heather!

Who needs cable when you have Whittaker Woman? :)

I love Seanna's eyes peeking out from behind the bag. "Mom, you're not really going to take my picture right now?"

Wow! What an exciting morning! I avoided church for several month after the girls were born because I wasn't brave enough to get the 3 of us ready -- my hubby volunteers with your hubby -- so I would be on my own. But, now I'm getting used to it, I'm sure it'll just get harder once they have their own opinions!

Good job!!

Well you still managed to look great despite your crazy morning!

And I'm sure your kids will never forget your big-heart-in-action by helping that duck.

your expression on that last picture is priceless :)

my husband the solo Sunday routine with our 2 kiddos since I'm the church worker. I learned quickly not to complain when my 7 yr old daughter comes to church in a turtleneck sweater, shorts and UGGs in July.
