Family Night... Field Day With The Wilson Family

The point of family nights is just being intentional for a short period of time as a family. The truth is life gets in the way sometimes. We are up in Nashville for Carlos and his work. The kids and I got to tag along which is much better than staying at home alone! 

Sohaila missed field day at school and was sad about it so I decided to create our own field day. We got to stay at our friends the Wilson's one night and they jumped on board with us! 

This is Brandi and her boys! Yet another friend who I have met because of this here blog! 

We had a football toss. Guess who won... Jett! Boy can throw a ball! 

I don't know what this was called, but it was funny to watch the kids get dizzy! 

Pete was showing the kids how to do the long jump! Not bad for being jet lagged from his trip with Compassion to India! 

Then we did the three legged race. Which is the ONLY time we will be tying our girls to the Wilson boys! 

This was my favorite field day event.

The three year olds actually made it to the finish line. Which was a huge accomplishment since Losiah can rarely walk 10 steps with out falling! 

Then the egg toss!

And finally a good old fashion race, where I had to run my fastest so that Jett and Sohaila did not beat me! It was such a great day! H

Korean Love

I remember when I saw this video.  It was so weird to see someone else in my shoes! Hey I know that lady, she has placed that same baby carrier on me. This time she was placing it on my friend Jen's back. Mine was a bright grass green, Jen's was a much more tolerable khaki, but the moment was the same. Life changing at that. 

I must say what I love the most about my blog is taking these friendships live! Jen and her brood came to stay at our house last night. She has 4 kids plus our three and then the Darley 3 maxed out our house with 10 monkey's under 10! But the best of all was the love in the making! 

Oh I can not get enough of her.

I just love this here blog! There are many times I want to call it quits with this blog. You know how it goes... there is one reader who is a hater in the bunch of hundreds and it makes me want to give up. BUT when I realized the reality of all those I have met on here who I now dearly love them I am so encouraged! H

The Other Woman

Meet Joanna. She was "the other woman" in my life. HeHe. When I was in high school my boyfriend dumped me for her. It was ugly and completely High School, however we are now friends. The good old internet has brought two very unlikely people together. She drove out for a quick visit with me while I was in Colorado. So... Fresno peeps... funny to see us together huh! :) 

Redeeming Love

About 6 years ago my friend Lori bought me Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers. It was not the edition with the the woman above who looks like Fabio's twin. It actually had an old western town on the cover. I read it and loved it. One day when I was at Lori's house her man Matt was dogging us and the cover of the book. He was willing to read the story, but there was no chance he would be caught with that cover. I tucked that little conversation in my brain.
So when I saw this cover, which is by the way 100 times worse than the one he was making fun of us for, I bought it for him. I wrapped it nice and neat and labeled it... open first.  I then let my kind heart jump in and  took the cover off of a copy of The Chamber. I then wrapped the cover and labeled it... open second. I then sent him his summer read, full with a manly disguise!

Matt then facebooked me this...

Ok, so I am going to start the book you sent me this week. It really is the gaaaayyeest cover ever made. I am only going to read it because you sent it, and yes, I'm going to use the fake cover the whole time. My expectations are low....

Now Matt and Lori took a cruise this week and guess who was reading what... Yep. Of all the books he could have taken, Redeeming Love was represented. But here is the best part. A woman in her 60's came up and started a conversation with Matt about how she loves John Grisham.  The Chamber is one of his she has not read and she wanted to get his opinion on it. 
(We were out to dinner with the Albee's when they were telling us this story and I had tears coming down my face, so priceless!)
So Matt being the stud he was, confessed and pulled of the cover for the lady to see. They said she could not contain herself! Oh I wish I could have been there. I love it! So yes, he has read the book and loved it, even with the added humility he had to face! H

Dear Friend

Do you have someone in your life that makes you think? 

Someone who looks at your life and is able to summarize it and explain it in words that were so deep in your heart, that you could not even put vocabulary to it? I have recently become friends with someone who does this for me. This is an email she sent me after she watched the Adoption Video #7 (about min 2). It was the day we met Losiah for the first time, which so happened to be Thanksgiving. 

This was some of her words, how she got in my head, my heart, I don't know. But 2 years later she gets it. I have pushed these things away. Life got so chaotic and I never approached these thoughts again. 

UNTIL NOW! Here you go...

"I got to watch you eating your Turkey dinner in Korea and I was watching you smile and feeling like you wanted to cry. Here you were at one of the most anticipated moments of your adult life and all you wanted was to be anywhere but there. Isn't that how it so often is for us? We long and we wait and we desire, but when reality happens...we want to run! :) I feel like that's me on a constant basis.

How we want success, but sometimes we fear success more than we fear failure. It's safer to think in the negative terms of, "what if I don't succeed, or what if I never make it, or what if I can't get a job." Because then we seemingly have control over those situations...we can fall on the default of, "well, I knew it would never happen." But...if we become successful, we have no way of maneuvering through that outcome...we don't know what to expect or how to take our life to the next level...especially if we are in a mindset of letdowns and failures."

Oh this struck my soul.

I had just met my son and yet I was so let down. 

The moment happened, but it was not like the movies.  

He was cute... but he was not mine. 

Carlos and I were together, but we felt so alone.

I wanted to be home with what I knew, what made me feel comfortable, what made me feel safe. Oh how life is funny. We long and we want, but then it happens and often we are let down. We all have dreams. Dreams of school, work, marriage, kids, retirement. We all long to have those dreams fulfilled, but often times when they are, we are not satisfied. Marriage, kids, work, retirement, what is it for you? Have you had a dream that has not turned out as you thought? H

Back Woods, No Mans Land, The Sticks... I Am There!

When I was three my parents decided to move to the farmlands of Missouri. They lived in a small house with lots of acres. I remember there was  pond in the back and geese that I had to beat with a stick so they would not attack me. It is the time in our lives that my parents always reference stories from... We used to do this, In Missouri life was like that. It is fun to be an adult and come back with my parents. 

This was their sweet little house. 

The  main reason for this visit is for my parents to see some of their best friends that they had while they were back here. We have been having fun at their house...

Chatted, and chatted and chatted some more! This is only the beginning of this trip! I can't wait to share more! H

Thats What Friends Are For!

Lets just start by saying... I AM IN DENIAL! 

Long story short... Jacinda called me fat! Yep, my BFF called me fat! 

Long story Long... I have been having problems with my pants lately. They are buttoning fine, everything seems normal until I put my shoes on and look down. Every heel I put on makes my jeans look like high waters. I am 5 feet nothing so I always wear heals... except for lately. I decided that at my ripe age of 30... I grew! Seems logical to me. I had a late, very late growth spirt and now I am taller! 

So this morning, on the way to church  I call J to chat about my exciting news. I GREW! After her bout of laughter, she managed to ask me why I thought I grew... I told her... And she replied with " Now I have not seen you lately to tell you if this is true or not, but you know if you get chubby and gain weight your pants get shorter on you"  !!!!!!??!!!!!! Are you joking? Did my friend just tell me I was fat. I quickly told her I liked my reasoning better! But... I guess, that's what friends are for! H

The Advantages Of Older Children

With Seanna being born when Sohaila was only 17 months, I was never able to appreciate all the things a older child can bring to the table. We will be watching baby Judah on Mondays and I think it will be easier than I thought! H

Feeling Lonely?

Last week I lost my phone. It had all my numbers in it and left me high and dry. I had no one to call, because I  only know about 2 peoples numbers by heart... my mom's and Carlos'. So I sent a mass email to all of my family and friends to send me their contact info. Let me tell you... It was a blast. I think I am going to "LOSE" my phone a few times a year. It was like getting Christmas cards all over again. Most people wrote a little note and it just made my day all the people that came out of the wood work. SO... here is my tip... if you are lonely, lose your phone! :) H

One Of These Things Doesn't Belong Here

For the sake of those of you who do not have kids I blocked out the special present that was left amongst the toys for us. I heard the same scream that I heard this day.  I was in shock! 

We had 4 of our couple friends over for dinner we had 11 kids running crazy... One puking, one somehow pulled our extremely heavy barn door over which could have killed him... LITERALLY, and then the grand finale was Losiah taking a big dump in the girls room! Nice! 

Ain't no party like a Whittaker Party. H

Help Me... Help Them

First let me say thank you so much for standing my ME, my friend, and pulling together and being a community here. I am so thankful to be connected to so many people who genuinely care and support one another. That my friends is what brings me great joy in doing this blog! 

I come to you again asking for help. As you know our friend Mark passed away last Thursday. I need some help... I would love for you to give, I would love for you to pray, but what I would really love would be for you to share with Angie and Nolan how Marks story has touched you, how this story has changed you and what his life meant to you. Help me, help THEM!

Save Room For Dinner

Tonight we did things backwards. We asked the girls if they would like to go out for dessert first and then dinner. Sohaila and Seanna were all for it, but Kiara wasn't buying it. "Nooo, you're just joking us!" Kiara was so surprised and later told me we were crazy. 
First we drove out to Cracker Barrell for dessert.


The kids ate sundaes and we shared apple dumplings a la mode and brownie  cobbler.
They had little rocking chairs on the front porch. Yes, Seanna is in her jammies. She didn't want to change into clothes.
Then we headed to to Swallow at the Hallow for some Southern BBQ.

Loads Of Fun

We are out doing my job... I bet you guys did not know that I work. I do. I shop for someone. 

We are at the mall with out the kids. We know the guys are home thinking we are out living it up but truth be told. We aren't! But I do love being with my girl! IN GEORGIA! H

The Hales In The ATL

Do you have friends or family that are so dear to you but for some reason you NEVER take pictures together? That is the Hales for us. For some lame reason we never have our cameras when we are with them. I guess the girls are just to busy gabbing and the boys are playing video games that we forget to capture the moments. Today changed things! We brought a camera!

We took Marta downtown. Losiah was so excited... "I on a choo, choo train, mama, I on choo, choo!"


We had a great afternoon of exploring Atlanta!

We went to the coke museum and decided that no matter how grand it was it was not worth paying... $60 to get in for our family. Ouch. I mean I love coke but not for that much!

Seanna made a really big deal about this picture. I guess she is going to be one of those tourists!

We hit the fun park and then headed home.

I was jealous... I want someone to carry me home while I take a nap! H

Mark

Has past on from this earth. He is with Jesus and within my sorrow for Angie and Nolan I am overwhelmed with the thought of him getting to be with God! Thank you so much for all of your prayers, your sweet comments to Angie and the support you have given me. Mark was a friend to my family for many years, we will miss planning camping trips and baby sitting swapping with them. My heart is passionate about helping Angie and Nolan. Even though this may seem over it has just begun for them. Angie said that she already feels so lonely.Which just breaks my heart. I can not imagine. I ask that as a community here, I hope you will join me in supporting her. You may not personally know them but I ask you to come along side with me and support her. Please go and write her a note from one soul to another. Thank you. H

This was Mark in the waiting room when I was in labor with Sohaila. He had many talents! I have never seen someone actually draw something on a etch a sketch. Look at the details in that pig! We will miss you Mark, but promise to take care of your family! H

Ahhhhhhh

17 months and 5 days was the last time this has happened! That is a long time! 

The Hales are here! Jacinda (Again! I know I have been spoiled!) But also with the kids and Brian!

Georgia on my mind

There is nothing like being in the Smokey Mountains and hearing the local musicians play!

I am sure you could find some Blue Grass in CA but it would not be LEGIT! I was in the hills of Tennessee! 

Those are my offspring. They were so excited to be able to play in the REAL BAND! They made me take pictures so we could show daddy! 

I think Losiah got the wrong info on his wardrobe memo!

Then the finale, Its not enough to be hearing some Blue Grass Music in the sticks, but to add a little clogging! Now, I can say I saw me some South! :) H

35 Degrees At Dollywood Equals Tears!

You know it had to be bad if the Whittaker's don't have a picture of the kids and their melt down due to the cold. We were having a good day. It was FREEZING but bearable until the sun went down. After that it all went down hill and fast!

I had a mom moment when my girls got to go on a ride all by themselves. They must stop growing.

This was how bad it was. The men went to the gift shop and bought gloves and hats! It was so cold. Dollywood equals FANCY! H

I have been with Mr and Mrs Lee in the great Smoky Mountains, yes that is where I have been.

We took a nice hike to the top of what is called Chimney Peak trail.

It was butt cold! But it made the trip! Have I told you I love to HIKE! Oh it gives breath to my soul! H

I don’t know what to say or how to comment on Mark’s accident. It was that phone call you just hope to never receive. Even when the hospital told me it was a serious injury, I thought they were referring to broken bones. But here we are 11 days in and still I don’t have words to encourage or to share stories of what a wonderful husband and dad Mark is. The odds aren’t good, but the Bible says with God all things are possible. God is able to heal Mark and if He chooses to do so, it will be a miracle.

Thank you for praying with me for a miracle.

Fasting On Friday For Mark Lamberth

Heres the deal. Friday from 10 am to 10 pm I want to ask you to join me in fasting and  praying for our friends the Lamberths. Why ten?  Well, on Friday Mark and Angie will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. They talked about celebrating their anniversary doing a service project together, and due to circumstances we have decided to do this service project for them in honor of their anniversary. 

So THIS FRIDAY, from 10 am until 10 pm, on Mark and Angie’s 10 Year Anniversary, we will focus all our attention of God and His work in this situation.

This is how it will work... If you will be willing to join us you will be fasting from something from 10am-10pm. What you fast from is up to you. It may be a full fast in which you only drink liquids or you may desire to fast like Daniel, who abstained from sweets and meats, and drank only water. You could even fast from smoking, tv or something else that would be a sacrifice from your normal activities. Then you just need to replace that time with prayer for the Lamberths.

7 kids 8 and younger= A PEACEFUL NIGHT!

Well, we had dinner planned with some of our new friends. The Reeves and Fitzpatricks. It was great! I think it was the first time that we had a group dinner here in ATL. We have had many, many dinner dates with a ton of great new friends, but this was the first time we had a group date. After the fact I realized it was something that I have missed here in ATL and it was great to have a moment of it. We took a little walk down to the ice cream shop with all the kids in tow. Did I mention that we had 3 two year olds? 

Now Melissa and Colin were crazy because they do not have kids BUT they were willing to enter a house with 7 munchkins. Now that is a test to a friendship! 

Doesn't every parent take their kids in 40* weather to eat ice cream outside? 

Ok... See the ground? Chalk was everywhere. Losiah's brown pants were covered in it. The finale of the night was when we got back to the house. All the adults were sitting around the table when our little man decided to give me a little piece of his two-ness. I was holding his hand... I said no to him for something and his knees gave out from under neath him. He was crying. I still had his hand in mine when I felt a pop. I just thought his wrist popped, but his cry became more than a... I am mad at you kind of cry to a I am in pain cry. He instantly grabbed his arm with his other one and held it up. Screaming. You can say we broke up the party. We got in the car with full intentions that I was going straight to urgent care. Oh the way home I remember reading this post by my friend Shannon. 

I asked her about it and she gave me two simple things to do. I mean simple like just putting his palms face up. Then moving them to his shoulder. I did that simple thing and Losiah was healed! Literally I did those two moves and the arm that had to be held up by the other was instantly grabbing popcorn out of the bag. It was amazing! It was quite an eventful night! H

Update...

I got a text around midnight last night... THEY ARE MOVING MARK! 

 This was the quote from the family blog... 

"Update - December 14 - 12am by Troy LamberthAs many of you many know, Mark is an orthopedic tech at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. (Providentially, they are known for their trauma care.) We were so blessed to have some of his co-workers and bosses come out and visit yesterday. They spoke very highly of Mark and began to help organize a second opinion. Around 9pm on Saturday evening, a CD with Mark’s CAT scan was rushed down to the hospital by Mark’s uncle Tim. By 11:30pm, the neurosurgeon contacted Angie and Mark’s family and said he felt the prognosis for Mark was not as dire as previously concluded. He believed there were a couple of options that his trauma unit could proceed with if Mark was transfered to Mission Hospital.

Please keep praying for Mark. He’s not out of the woods yet, but if all goes well, he will be transfered to Orange County sometime this morning. Please pray that the transfer will be safe. There is some risk due to his condition, but the surgeon believed it was worth it because of the special care they can offer.

Your prayers and support have been so uplifting to Angie and the family. She has had opportunities to read them on this blog and she is very thankful for the outpouring of love you have showed her. The Lord is good!

Update - December 14 - 9am by Troy Lamberth

Mark is still at Riverside County Hospital. They have been waiting for the pressure in his skull to decrease. Currently he is at a 31. They’d prefer him to be at a 28 before they transfer. The doctor at Mission Hospital said he is willing to accept Mark at his current level, but we are now waiting on the doctor out here to concur. Angie has said that if you want to come visit him this morning, you are more than welcome. Just be forewarned that the transfer can happen at any time. Please keep praying. Moving Mark is risky in his condition. God has been merciful to keep him alive up to now. It seems the transfer would be the best means we know of to help him medically. The Lord only knows. Please keep praying for Angie and Nolan as well. Godspeed!

I got a wonderful text saying that I was going to have a warm meal delivered to me on my pajama day! Oh how glorious was that! Man, anytime a meal is cooked for me I feel so lucky... After we had a bad accident, births, death. All of it is so helpful, but its during the times like this when it is just a small thing like a cold, that made me feel so good. It's love. Thanks Amber! 

I Have Nothing On My Plate Right Now

When it rains it pours...
I got in from Dallas 9 am on Thursday.
11- picked up Losiah,
12 picked up Seanna
2 - picked up sohaila
3- back to the airport to pick up my grandma
5- Carlos' work party at the farm
8-10 nap because the night before I only slept 3 hours
11- Jacinda, Leige, Carlos and Daley arrive home.
Talk till 1:30am
Friday: Wake up at 10 and go run 3 miles in the midst of fall colors
2pm pick Sohaila up from bus stop. Find out that she has some kind of infection on her outer ear where puss was coming out and it was beginning to swell.
3pm go to doctors.  Miss hair appointment. We don't see the doctor till 5:15. She tells us Sohaila has impetigo and she keeps repeating how glad she is that we brought her in, because it was beginning to swell.
Leave Drs, fight traffic go out to dinner with MY GIRLS in GA! It was actually a wonderful dinner, but man on man was it hard to get there. We got lost, sat in traffic and got lost again. It really was just one of those days that would not end. One thing after another.
Get home only to find out the Pharmacist would not fill the perscription because she was not sure if it was right. Had to call DR. at midnight. Then sat in the drug store for an hour while they filled it and of course it was not covered by insurance. So it was $158, which we don't have. Have I said it was one thing after another. Oh because I have not gotten to the part where my throat is so swollen I can barely swallow. I hurt so bad. We have 5 guests staying at our house right now, a blog party to pull together and all I want to do is crawl in bed and sleep till Monday.

But this is how I live. I am a mom of three and I can pull it together until Monday when I can stay in my jammies all day! Until then I keep on going. :) H

The North Georgia State Fair

This post is dedicated to the workers, better known as carnies. We decided that there needs to be a reality TV show on them! They were classic!

She was on the phone the entire time our kids were on the ride that SHE was in charge of!
Just in case you were wondering... His shirt said 'SAFETY FIRST' on the back. I was so comforted! :)
Ok so this guy was the man in charge of the Rat Race game we played. I could not understand a word he said. Mark finally had to come over and word by word translate for me. I was in another world tonight. H

The North Georgia State Fair

I think I will keep you captive all day by periodically posting pictures. Our friends Mark and Stephanie were the first people who invited us over for dinner when we first moved to Georgia. Since then they have continued to introduce us to the south. Tonight just might have topped me off!
Lets set the scene...
Tonight at the North Georgia State Fair... We played a game with rats!

We put our kids on rides that went in circles all night.

And we took every opportunity for a good picture!

One mans junk is another mans treasure!

My friend Kristen works for Passion and she traveled with them to Uganda back in May. When I heard she was going I was quick to ask her if she would take some things for us to our Compassion friends down there. She was fabulous and said yes...
Today I got a email from our friend Dennis. He works for Compassion and sent me some pictures of our stuff being passed out at a couple of Compassions projects.
 
Nothing today could have brought me more joy! Well except if you go and sponsor one of these kids today!

Every experience has been different. And yet each of the experiences have confirmed that we love to live with other people. The help, the support, the community is just so worth it!  We will continue to do it. I think we live in a world that has fallen away from relationships. I think we have alienated ourselves from each other, which only leaves many of us lonely and overwhelmed. I want my life and my families lives to be as rich as possible. Our Summer Guest Finale

Wow have we had a summer full of guests! This past weekend was the last set of visitors for at least 3 weeks. :)
Bogie and Becca came to visit! I have known Bogie for 14 years! We hung out in the same group in high school and have remained friends. They opened up their home for the whittaker's two years ago when we needed a home for a month. I guess you can say they started the co-living madness that I have embraced.
Anyways it was a fun weekend.
We got a sitter and went out one night.

We went to some Pig and Peaches festival!

And Finally we just hung out. Bogie had an infection in his knee and so they spent 10 hours in the ER on Saturday! It is always lovely to have a little IE in the house!  Wow it has been quite the summer! H

Hottest Place in Town!

Oh I have so many blog posts so much to share! I had a wonderful BIRTHDAY PRESENT! It was such a great past week.  Yesterday we had a great lunch with Eric and Angela. There is just nothing like being with your two best friends at one time! 

We had all the kids and ate at the hottest place in town. Literally!

We sat down when it said 85* and watched it slowly creep higher and higher. We had 6 kids and did not want to pile everyone back in the car so we decided to stay. My man, the optimist that he is said..." We just want to give Jacinda a authentic Southern meal. Barbecue, Sweaty and Nasty!" I would have preferred to give her another experience but this is what we got! H
